VSU, ASU struggle in softball and VSU golf finishes eighth in regional

Miami-   Barry University beat Albany State 8-0 in five innings in the first round of the NCAA DII South Regional in Miami Shores, Fl.

The Lady Rams play Tampa in an elimination game on Thursday.

Valdosta State is also in the elimination bracket.

Lady Blazers lose a tough one 3-2 to St. Leo in eight innings.

Valdosta State, seeded sixth, faces second seed Alabama-Huntsville in the elimination bracket on Thursday.

The Valdosta State golf tournament did not qualify for the NCAA DII tournament.

The Blazers finish eighth in the south regional with a three day total of 885 or 33 over par.

West Florida won the regional at 840 and Nova was second.

Nate Balanis was the VSU leading scorer at five over which was good for 23rd place in the individual scoring.  

Brent Witcher was seven-over par, Jason Flowers was +9, Cole Willis finished +12 and Chad Smith was +21.
