Bainbridge-- The Department of Labor wants to help south Georgians find jobs.

They teamed up with the Southwest Georgia Employer Committee to put on a job fair Tuesday in Bainbridge.  Employers from Decatur, Miller, Seminole, and Early Counties met with job seekers from the region which has a higher unemployment rate than the state average.

Marjorie Mayfield, chair of the Southwest Georgia Employer Committee said,  "The numbers just came out and we noticied this area is a little bit higher and so that's why we wanted to do something about it. We thought maybe we could match up those seeking jobs with new employees."

The fair started at 1 p.m. and will end at 6:00 p.m.  More than 150 people came out just in the first hour Tuesday afternoon.
