Albany -- A Dougherty County Public Defender is running for District Attorney. Ingrid Driskell announced her candidacy Monday.

She has been a long time resident of Dougherty County and has served as the Solicitor in both the Municipal courts of Albany and Leesburg.

She says if elected Dougherty District Attorney, she'll bring equality to the judicial system.

"I just think the system aught to be fair. You here all the time about people who are prosecuted because of over-zealous prosecutors. And that is a problem. I just want justice to be fair for everybody.

And I believe everybody will agree that the right person will be prosecuted based on evidence and nothing more, than the community as a whole will be safe," said Driskell.

Driskell and Assistant D.A. Greg Edwards are running for District Attorney.
