Albany -- More than two dozen Dougherty County students were honored Wednesday for their strength and tenacity.

27 elementary, middle and high school students were given the Kids That Triumph award.

This is the third year that a child from every school in Dougherty County is acknowledged for their ability to overcome a personal adversity.

Their ability to overcome serves as inspiration to faculty, staff and students.

Superintendent Sally Whatley personally purchases the medals herself.
