A house subcommittee heard emotional family members testify about loved ones who died while taking heparin during a hearing today in Washington.

The drug's manufacturer, Baxter, recalled heparin earlier this year. Since then, the drug has been linked to 81 deaths and hundreds of allergic reactions.

Congress held the hearing to understand how contaminated raw ingredients from China ended up in an approved drug on the U.S. market. Baxter claims someone intentionally adulterated the heparin.
