Albany -- Albany's Downtown manager is about to get some help. City commissioners want to hire an assistant to help Don Buie try to revitalize downtown.

They want the assistant downtown manager to be heavily involved with turning around downtown to be able to fill in for Buie when he's not available.

"The downtown manager is high profile today and of high interest. And they want to throw a lot of resources at him, and we will decide what kind of capabilities he needs. I think we are doing a pretty good job addressing the issues and concerns of that office, but he does need help," said Assistant City Manager for Public Service, James Taylor.

The money for the position would come out of the City Manager's budget and would cost about $50.000.
