Albany -- Students at Albany's Live Oak Elementary learned a penny saved is a penny earned. Representative from Heritage Bank helped students get creative with saving their cash.
During Thursday's 12th annual National Teach Children to Save Day, students painted piggy banks and got an important lesson about how saving a little today, can lead to good patterns later in life.
"Our goal is to educate them on why it's important to save, how a little bit can go a long way in the future, preparing them for college, that first car," said Mary Beth Hobby of Heritage Bank.
Students were encouraged to ask questions about saving.
Information was also sent home for parents to review with their children.
