Valdosta - A Valdosta man is in fair condition Tuesday after being shot in an early morning robbery attempt.

46-year-old David Hollis told police he was in his car outside his home on Beauford Place at 3:30 AM listening to music when a man approached him and demanded money.

Hollis said he didn't have any and the man shot him.

"This is a quiet neighborhood and this could happen at any neighborhood. So this is a wake-up call that you need to be aware of your surroundings, aware of what's going on around you, especially if you are outside in the early morning or late night hours. Be aware," says Lt. Bobbi McGraw of the Valdosta Police.

Police say they're following leads, they have not made any arrests.
