Albany -- Georgia small businesses are saluted for their growth and job creation.

Monday morning the Dougherty County Commission gave a proclamation to the Chamber of Commerce as part of Small Business Week in Georgia.

The U-S Small Business Administration reports that almost 98 % of all Georgia employers are small businesses.

Nearly 32, 000 new small businesses started up within the last year. Chamber Interim President Wendy Martin said  "small businesses are the lifeblood of our society. Everyone is eligible to achieve that American dream, if you have the tenacity and commitment. "

According to the S-B-A, small businesses create 60 to 80 % of America's new jobs.
