Valdosta - The Valdosta State football team is working hard in the weight room and the practice field in the offseason to prepare to defend their division two national championship.

Supporters of the VSU football program teeing it up with such football greats as Jessie Tuggle and former Georgia running back Robert Edwards at the annual David Dean Celebrity Shootout.
Money raised from this tournament and the auction held on Sunday helps pay for the Blazers road trips to Arkansas.
Thanks to the VSU supporters, the Blazers are able to fly and not have endure long bus rides for Gulf South Conference games.
The travel has paid off with many big road wins and two national championships in four years.
Those national championships are also helping to grow the team's only fundraiser of the year.
David Dean said "Just the work of mouth that keeps getting around how much fun it is to come and really the golf is kind of let down from the night before. The night before is a lot of fun."
Valdosta State opens the 2008 football season on August 23rd at home against Fort Valley State.
