Albany --  The Dougherty County Commission gave a proclamation to the Chamber of Commerce as part of Small Business Week in Georgia.

The U. S. Small Business Administration reports that almost 98 percent of all Georgia employers are small businesses. Nearly 32,000 new small businesses started up within the last year.

"Small businesses are the lifeblood of our society. Everyone is eligible to achieve that American dream, if you have the tenacity and commitment," Chamber Interim President  Wendy Martin said.

According to the SBA, small businesses create 60 to 80 percent of America's new jobs.
