Lady Knights doubles duo wins second GISA state title

 Albany - The Deerfield-Windsor girls tennis team will try to win a third straight GISA team title next week.  

On Monday, two Lady Knights doubles teams both had chances to win state titles.

Deerfield-Winsdor's Taylor Hawke and Haley Fulford easily won their semifinal match over Stratford's Caroline Hill and Peterson Jones.

 First Presbyterian's sister team of Julie and Kristen Allen beat Deerfield-Windsor's Kelly Hoopes and Sarah Kitchen in the other AAA girls semifinal.

 Hawke and Fulford won in straight sets over the Allen sisters to claim their second consecutive GISA doubles championship.

It is the third state title for Taylor Hawke.

Taylor Hawke said "We were having a little difficulty with the nerves but I knew it was my senior year and I really wanted to win."

Haley Fulford said "I just wanted to do it for Taylor and me because it is Taylor's senior year."

Tiftarea's Brian Jordan and Govind Chinna win the boys AA doubles title.

Brookwood's Hannah Notaro was the state runner up in AA girls singles.

In class A, Westwood's doubles team Taylor High and Andrew Stargel finsihed second in the state.
