Albany--Thousands of people are getting some exercise Wednesday night, for a good cause.

Five thousand people are expected to take part in the American Cancer Society's 16th annual Dougherty/Lee County Relay for life.

Walkers from 58-teams will turns walking for 12 hours, until 7 am on Saturday.

Alberta Charlot is a Breast Cancer Survivor  and was thrilled by the number of people who turned out tonight to help raise money to fight all types of cancer.

"Just knowing everybody in the community, Albany, Dougherty, I think we have some people from Newton, it's just a joy to see as many people have showed up here today."

Teams barbecued and organized all sorts of events to raise money.

The Cancer Society hopes to raise 150-thousand dollars.

They were also signing up people to take part in a major nationwide cancer prevention study.
