Albany - The region 1 AAA girls track meet started Thursdayafternoon at Hugh Mills Stadium.

All events were preliminary except for the 1600 meter run. Monroe gets off to a great start in their battle with Westover for the team title.

Hyniece Snell won the region title in the 1600 andher teammate Sekelia Anthony finished in second for 18 points for the Lady Tornadoes.

Snell and Anthony advance to the GHSA girls state track meet that starts in two weeks at Hugh Mills Stadium.

The finals for the 1-AAA girls region meet in track and field are Tuesday.
