The fight against downtown blight continues

April 15, 2008

Albany -- The City of Albany's fight against blight continues. Code Enforcers continue to work East and West around downtown, inspecting buildings. They finished streets running North and South last month.

Owners of vacant buildings have to register with the city and come up with a development plan. So far 10 properties are registered, though some owners are having problems with the process.

"All but one were deficient in their statements of plan, and we will be working with owners on getting those statement of plans up to date," said Code Enforcement Director, Mike Tilson.

Owners of buildings that are vacant for more than 90 days must have them registered, secured, and maintained.
