Pearson - Two Atkinson County leaders have resigned and another one has been fired as a result of an audit into county spending.
Deputy Clerk Judy Mancil and Solid Waste Management Authority Director Llamar Parks have resigned. ounty Clerk Joyce Taylor Solomon was fired.
The three were originally suspended with pay after an audit revealed unlawful spending at the Waste management authority and county commission office.
Tanner says the board will continue working to correct spending problems before appointing new people to fill those positions.
The audit has been turned over to the District Attorney to determine if any criminal charges could be filed.
