Albany -- A South Georgia sexual violence center will be renamed to honor the late Albany Police Assistant Chief Bob Boren.

The Lily Pad SANE Center will be rededicate their center for sexual violence research, prevention, and education in Bob Boren's name later this month.

Boren served the Albany Police Department as Assistant and Interim Chief for 17 years. He died February 28th after a long battle with cancer.

Lily Pad SANE Center Executive Director Karen Kemp said "Bob was such a key player in standing this organization up. He had a real passion for victims of sexual assaults, both adults and children. He really had a vision that we would deliver comprehensive services to victims of sexual violence."

 The center will be re-dedicated in Boren's name in a ceremony April 23rd.  Leadership Albany's Edward J. Freeman Award will also be awarded posthumously to Boren.
