Dougherty pair sign basketball scholarships

Albany - Dougherty High star guard Brian Bryant becomes the latest Trojans basketball player to head to Okaloosa-Walton Community College in Niceville, Florida. [

Bryant signed his scholarship Thursday afternoon alongside teammate Justin Wimberly.

Wimberly is staying in town to play at Albany Tech.

Bryant, a two time all-state player, averaged 31 points and 12 rebounds a game this season.

He played in the GACA North-South All-Star game.

He joins an Okaloosa-Walton team that has won 20 or more games for ten straight seasons.

Brian Bryant said "He wants me when they are ranked high in the nation. that iust an honor for me. it is an honor to go play for coach Stewart and coach Jones."

Justin Wimberly said "I was at Mitchell-Baker, we played up and down the floor. I came here and we played up and down the floor. I know I am going to fit right in with that."

Brian Bryant hopes to sign a four year school after playing at Okaloosa-Walton just like former Dougherty teammate Josh Hunter.

Hunter has signed with Appalchian State.
