Albany--  The American Red Cross expects a dip in blood donations for the summer so they're trying to stock up now.  They need your help.

Several blood drives are scheduled throughout April. One was held Wednesday afternoon at First United Methodist Church in Albany.

The Red Cross knows donations will go down in the summer when families get busy with vacations. They urge you to come in now and save a life by donating.

"It's important because we have people that are having surgeries. Sometimes, if that blood is not there that means that surgery is going to be postponed or put on hold," said Phlebotomist Amanda Hall.

There is an incentive this month for donating. You'll be entered into a drawing for a trip for four to Disney World in Orlando. More drives will be held all over South Georgia.

For more information on when and where, call the American Red Cross at 1-800-GIVE-LIFE.
