Albany -- South Georgia school board members, teachers and counselors earned how to protect kids from bullying and suicide.

They attended a seminar in Albany to raise awareness about the warning signs. They also learned the best ways to approach and deal with a children who are being bullied or bullying others.

"We say our youth are the leaders of tomorrow, but if our youth are taken advantage of in a sense by committing acts of suicide and are victims of violent acts from bullies; then we are in trouble as a society, said Program Coordinator, Debra Ayers.

The awareness training is the first of its kind in Southwest Georgia and was sponsored by the Georgia Department of Human Resources Office of Prevention and the Morehouse School of Medicine.
