Albany-- An Albany City Commissioner and an Albany Police Car crash Wednesday afternoon during busy lunch time traffic.  Fortunately no one was injured.

About 1 Wednesday afternoon on Dawson Road by Lake Loretta, Commissioner Bob Langstaff's 2000 Ford Pickup struck an Albany Police Car almost head on, and then careened into a light pole.

Langstaff said the car in front of him in heavy traffic stopped abruptly, and he swerved into the passing lane to avoid rear ending it.  But he then hit the Police Car, which he said was making a U-turn.

Both Langstaff's truck and the 2004 Ford Crown Vic Patrol Car suffered front end damage, but neither he nor the two officers in the Patrol Car were hurt. Langstaff said "it was pretty good impact, but fortunately they are OK and I'm OK. And we can just try to figure out how many times does a City Commissioner run into a Police Officer. Has that ever happened before." Not that I can remember. "in any city."

Police say they are still investigating the crash, and no charges have been filed.
