Albany -- Near the corner of West Lincoln Avenue and Van Buren Street, crime scene tape ropes off a south Albany apartment.
"I walked up, and I seen a lot of people all around and police began to come. They said somebody had got shot," said Reginald Porter.
Porter lives nearby the apartment at 805 West Lincoln Avenue where police found a man suffering from a gun shot wound to the leg just after 1 a.m. He was transported to the hospital by EMS.
Shortly after officers arrived on the scene, they arrested a man believed to be involved in this violent home invasion.
"They had him in handcuffs and they put in the back of the car," said Porter.
While the motive behind this shooting is unclear, neighbors see this as a senseless crime.
"You know, it's just crazy for this happen. We're trying to clean up this neighborhood. Not make it bad," said Porter.
The victim was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital but police have not released his name, but the suspect they have in custody is Donald Winchester.
