Bad weekend weather snarls Georgia Power's pole replacement

April 7, 2008

Albany-  Bad weather over the weekend delayed repairs to a utility pole that was damaged in Albany Saturday.

This pole at the corner of Dawson Road and Westover Boulevard was damaged when a car hit it Saturday.  Georgia Power crews braced it with a truck for the weekend.  Monday, they were out there digging a seven foot hole to reset the 55 foot pole.

"We've got a lot of underground utilities here also the city, and AT&T, and the Gas and Water also seems to be down here so we've got to hand dig it set a new pole and then string the wire to the new pole, rework everything," said Matt Godwin, Georgia Power Lineman.

The utility pole was the fifth hit by a vehicle in the last two weeks in Albany.
