Dougherty County -- Dougherty County Commissioners put off a decision on whether to re-zone a race track. They want track owners and people who live nearby to work together.

Albany Motor Speedway currently races Legends race cars. Owner Harold Farnsworth also wants to race stock cars, trucks, go-carts, four-wheelers and non-motorized bicycles.

People who live near the track complain about noise levels now. Both parties have met before on the issue, but could not come up with a compromise.

"I would really like to see the citizens try once again to make some concessions on this. Something that works for both sides. We need recreation, but we also need to preserve the quality of life for our citizens who have already invested in our community," said Dougherty County Commissioner District 2, John Hayes.

County Commissioners postponed making a decision to get more information. They plan to vote on the rezoning request in two weeks.
