Albany -- You may find yourself swatting at mosquitoes more often. And you can blame it on the rain.

That's what's causing Environmental Control to spray seven days a week now because of the increase in mosquitoes compared to this time last year.

Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful is also helping out with the cause by holding a community tire-pick up.

"Mosquitoes breed heavily in tires because they are dark areas. The water stays longer in the tires. And that tire pick-up will help greatly in decreasing the population of mosquitoes in Dougherty County," said Environmental Control Director, Donnell Mathis.

The free tire pick-up will be held for residents from 9:00AM to 4:00 PM on April 19th. You will be able to drop tires off at:

Holly Dr. / Radium Springs Rd.

Clark Ave. / Maple St.

Jefferson St. / Newton Rd.

Third Ave. / Slappey Blvd.

Dougherty County Landfill -- 900 Gaissert Rd.
