Albany - The Albany State track team looking for low times and wins in the 16th annual Alice Coachman Invitational.
The Rams track team is already off and running this season.
James Coley was second in the NCAA Division II indoor meet and is looking for better performances in the outdoor meet in May.
For the Lady Rams, Tamika Kinchen has posted one of the top qualifying times in the 800 meter run this season and also met the provisional time in the 1500 meter.
The Alice Coachman meet is also a great tune-up for the SIAC track meet in two weeks.
It is also a very big honor for the Albany State track athletes to run in a meet named in honor of a woman who paved the way for them to compete today.
Sophomore Tamika Kinchen said "Another thing is it is honor of Alice Coachman. The first African-American to win a gold medal in the Olympics. So, that is also significant."
The 16th annual Alice Coachman Invitational is at Hugh Mills Stadium on Saturday.
Field events start at 8:00 a.m. and the running events begin at 11:30 p.m..
