Americus-  It's a GIRL! Sumter Regional Hospital East makes their first delivery since the tornado.

Emily Wilma Katherine Price was born just before seven Wednesday night, weighting in at six pounds, 11 ounces to the parents of Megan Devane and John Price and is the first baby to be born in Americus in some time.

Since the hospital was destroyed in the March first tornado, Sumter Regional has been sending expectant moms to hospitals in Montezuma and Albany to give birth. Sumter Regional Hospital East began accepting patients Tuesday.

The opening of Sumter Regional Hospital East Tuesday gave the hospital the ability to perform surgery again and of course delivery babies.
