Lester earns AF2 honors

April 1, 2008

lbany - South Georgia Wildcats quarterback Cecil Lester proved head coach Derek Stingley right in that Lester is mentally into the game.

After completing a pass to Alvin Ray Jackson on the game's final play Saturday in Huntsville, Lester was alert enough to follow Jackson who pitched the ball to Lester who ran it in for the game winning touchdown.

The play was one of many great plays for Lester in his first AF2 start in four years.

On Tuesday,  the AF2 named Wildcats quarterback Cecil Lester the Schutt Offensive player of the week.

Lester's numbers for the night against the Tennessee Valley Vipers were 27 completions for 375 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Wildcats came from ten points down in the fourth quarter to beat the Vipers 55-52.

Cecil Lester and the Wildcats are getting ready for Saturday's home opener against Louisville at the Albany Civic Center.
