Albany -- Fans arriving late to the Albany State baseball field Sunday, expecting to see the Rams take on Stillman in game three of the series, were offered a bit of a surprise: An empty ball-field.
ASU and the Tigers played two plus inning, before Stillman head coach Donny Crawford would pull his team off the field, hop on the bus, and head out of town.
The coach was upset with a call at first base in the first inning, and the emotions carried over.
A couple of ejections would lead to the early departure in the top-half of the third, and Albany State head coach Edward Taylor says he's never been a part of anything like it.
"Stillman just walked off the field, pretty much," says Taylor. "Coach just told his players to get on the bus. I'm not mad at him. We got another win. It doesn't bother me at all."
The umpire called the game a forfeit, so the Rams should get credit for a conference win, but are waiting on a ruling to see if it will count towards their NCCA overall total.
