Tifton -- Investigators in Tifton are awaiting autopsy results to determine what caused a 39-year-old Tift County Jail inmate to die while on work detail.

Police say James "Tony" Harrell was riding on the back of a garbage truck March 17th just minutes before he was found unresponsive on Hartley Avenue.

He later died at a hospital in Macon.

Investigators ruled out speculation that he had been involved in an earlier fight at the jail and they do not suspect that foul play was involved.

Harrell was serving time on a probation violation.
