Albany-- A former candidate for state senate will be spending the next three years in federal prison.

Thursday, Kerry Clabaugh was sentenced to 36-months by Judge Louis Sands in Albany.

He pleaded guilty to wire fraud a little more than a year ago in a case in which prosecutors say he used his businesses to rip off nearly three quarters of a million dollars in worker's comp insurance.

Clabaugh ran for the District 13 Senate seat as a Republican in 2002.
