Worth County -- A man was killed in a head on collision in Worth County Wednesday afternoon. The wreck happened just after 3 p.m.  on Red Rock Road.

Witnesses say a white Dodge pickup truck hit a Ford Explorer head on. The driver of the Explorer, who has not been identified, was dead at the scene.

The driver of the other truck is at the hospital with injuries.

It was just about an hour earlier in Sylvester when a Worth County ambulance was involved in a serious wreck on Highway 82. Police say a Chevy S-10 truck pulled out of Subway and into the path of the ambulance which was running on a call.

The ambulance broadsided the truck and then careened into a black Mercury Milan.

The driver of the pickup, 77-year-old Mary Tate was taken to a hospital.

The paramedics and the people in the car were not hurt. The ambulance was on its way to a call and there was no patient on board. Tate will be charged with failure to yield the right of way.
