Albany --   Investigators have charged 26-year-old Freddie Lee Green with the Monday night robbery of the Shoe Station on Dawson Road.

Green was the security guard at the store, and told police he was hit from behind by the robber who dropped down from the ceiling.

He claimed he was forced by the shotgun-wielding bandit to take him to the office where manager Ta-Tanisha Turner was counting money.

"Upon the completion of the interview he was placed under arrest for armed robbery and false statements in writing, and placed in the Dougherty County jail," said Detective William Henry. "At this time the case is still active, pending further investigation. Possibly one to two other suspects involved."

Police say that the cash, Green's .38-caliber revolver, and Turner's car keys and cell phone were taken.

Firemen surveyed the roof of the Shoe Station, but did not find a hole.
