Ashburn- Ashburn's mayor has temporarily stepped down until a matter dealing with his son and the police department is handled.
During last weekend's Fire Ant Festival, Jim Hedges' son Joe was arrested for disorderly conduct over a parking matter.
Joe Hedges complained officers handled the situation inappropriately. An internal investigation has been launched within the police department to investigate the situation between Hedges and the officer.
Councilman and Mayor Pro-Tem Major Sanders will serve as Mayor until the matter is resolved.
