Albany-  A U.S. Magistrate Judge in Albany voluntarily removed himself from a case that could involve as many as 40 defendants in an indoor marijuana growing operation.

Judge Richard Hodge fears he may know too many of the defendants from Dougherty, Lee, and Terrell Counties because they've passed through his courtroom before.

With Judge Richard Hodge removed from the case, U-S Magistrate G. Mallon Faircloth in Columbus will handle the remaining defendants. Eight people in the case have appeared before Judge Richard Hodge, but investigators have said as many as 40 could face charges.
