United Way volunteers recognized

March 24, 2008

Albany -- The people and businesses behind thousands of hours of volunteer work and contributions were recognized Monday.

The United Way of Southwest Georgia gave out more than 50 awards.

Procter and Gamble received the top honor for its donation of about $318,000 in company and individual employee contributions.

"This is a great award. We worked extremely hard this year to try to exceed our past goal. We want to continue to do that each year. Depending on what we gave the previous year, we want to work even harder to give more the next year," said Powers and Control Engineer, Terrence Strader.

The United Way of Southwest Georgia serves 12 counties and contributes to over 30 programs.
