Albany -- Children from all over the Southeast were in Albany for a positive message.

The River Road Church of Christ hosted a youth rally to encourage the children to practice abstinence.

Close to 1,000 children and 200 adults from Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi came to Saturday's rally.

"What we are trying to do is teach our young people the importance of abstinence; how abstinence helps initiate success in their lives; how it keeps them from contracting STD's and different things of that nature," said Youth Minister, John Watson.

Classes, outdoor activities, and Bible Bowls were all part of the event. The youth rally closed with a gospel concert featuring singing group "Redeemed".
