Wildcats looking to beef up defensive front

March 19, 2008

Albany - With the first week of training camp in the books, South Georgia Wildcats head coach Derek Stingley is looking for some big guys who can rush the passer.

The Wildcats hoping Courtney Young will be able to play as well as he did last year when Young was not only a relentless pass rusher.

He also did a great job protecting the quarterback on the offensive line.

Stingley says the line will also get a boost when Darren Damron reports to camp next week.

And the Wildcats are hoping Andre Slappey will be a solid wall at offensive tackle.

Slappey missed the final five regular season games last year and the playoffs with a back injury.

Derek Stingley said "He is in the best shape he has been in since I have been coaching him. So, i am hoping he can stay healthy this year so he can help us out big time up front."

Wildcats opens the season March 29th at Tennessee Valley.
