Braves Schafer has promising future

March 18, 2008

Lake Buena Vista, Fl. - One of the questions for the Altanta Braves in 2008 is centerfield where Mark Kotsay hopes Atlanta fans will not miss Andruw Jones this season.

The Braves traded for Kotsay after Jones signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The centerfielder of the future could be 21-year old Jordan Schafer.

A third round draft pick in 2005, Schafer is flying through the farm system and having a terrific spring training in his first big league camp.

Schafer has been compared to Mark Kotsay and is following the veteran's lead every chance he can.

Jordan Schafer said "Anytime you can be around a vet like that knows a lot about the game and knows how to play the game. You can use it to your advantage."

The Atlanta Braves enjoyed their one day off from exhibition action on Tuesday.

The Braves play Houston on Wednesday in Grapefruit League action.
