Cook Jailer resigns after DUI

Adel - A Cook County jailer has resigned after being charged for driving under the influence.

Deputies in Cook County say Daron Williams submitted his resignation Monday morning, effective immediately.

Williams was charged with DUI after being stopped in Lowndes County on Saturday March 8.

His cousin, Lewis Clark, was charged with possession of marijuana, open container, and possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

Williams was one of the top officials at the Cook County jail.
