Lawyer pleads to bribery charge

Albany -- A Mississippi lawyer who sued not for profit hospitals for overcharging uninsured patients, has pleaded guilty to trying to bribe a Judge.

 Richard Scruggs entered the plea Friday. Prosecutors say he offered a judge 50-thousand dollars in a Hurricane Katrina lawsuit.

In 2004, Scruggs targeted not for profit hospitals, including Phoebe Putney, in a multi-million dollar lawsuit. Two years later, the suit was dismissed.
