Albany -- An Albany man arrested after a police standoff is on trial this week for kidnapping and assault. 30 year old Carl Smith was arrested in July after a four hour police standoff at a home on 5th Avenue.

Police say Smith held five people at knife point- his three children, the 19 year old mother of those children, and that woman's mother.

Police say before the standoff ended, the two women, Danielle Wooley and Georgia Seely were cut.
