Wildcats hold first practice

March 13, 2008

Albany -- The South Georgia Wildcats were on the practice field for the first time Thursday, as they get ready for the start of the season.

The Cats have barely two weeks to prepare, as they travel to face Tennessee Valley March 29th in the season opener.

The 2008 campaign is filled with change and promise for South Georgia.

The Wildcats have brought in new players like wide receiver Antwone Savage, and quarterback Walter Washington, while returnees like Roland Cola look to add stability to the situation.

Washington was under center for the Odessa Roughnecks of the IFL last season, and says he's impressed with the talent in South Georgia.

"Aw, man, it's one of the best wide receiving crews I've ever worked with," says Washington. "We have speed, talent, and guys that are wise in the game. They know how to run certain routes in Arena ball. It's fun."

Cola says, "We look real good for the first day. With a lot of new guys together, we look real good. And it's just going to get better and better."

The Wildcats first home game is April 5th against Louisville.
