Albany -- Crooks hit another Dougherty County church, stealing not just copper, but entire air conditioners; three of them. Dougherty County Police warn churches to protect their property because thieves are targeting houses of worship.

Thieves stole three entire ACc units from the Mount Early Missionary Baptist Church on Cordele Road. The units were there Sunday, but church members discovered them missing Wednesday night. The loss is estimated at $12,500.

Investigators suspect the same thieves who stole an air conditioner from the Mount Holder Baptist Church on Harris Road last week.

Police hope you'll help keep an eye on rural churches. If you see trucks coming or going from churches at odd times, call Dougherty County Police at 430-6600.
