Albany --  Albany's newest department store opened to long lines, few parking spots, and plenty of sales.

Kohl's created 130 local jobs and is part of the company's five year expansion to open more than 1,400 stores nationwide.

We found there was certainly a lot of excitement generated by the new store's grand opening Thursday morning.

Nearly two hours after Kohl's officially opened in Albany, the parking lot was packed. Inside, the sale signs were up and customers were filling buggies, although some had to be convinced to drive 25 miles from Mitchell County.

"To chauffer my wife to the sale this morning at Kohl's grand opening," says Dan Domiano of Mitchell County.

The response didn't shock store managers who say the store's been busy since Sunday.

"We were expecting it, just from the results we got with the soft opening we were expecting it and it's been great," said Kohl's Store Manager Paulette Williams.

Check out lines stretched quite a distance, but many shoppers say the wait was worth the deals.

Cusomter Mary Williams said, "I found something for my junior, she's 13-years-old, I mostly shopped for them."

With most customers leaving with at least something in their cart, who says the economy isn't doing well? "Not Kohl's," the mananger said.

With clothing apparel, shoes, toys, jewelery, and home items the store calls it one stop shopping and customers say they'll be back.

"Very impressed," was how Domiano described the store. "Very nicely and neatly organized, very helpful people, very helpful.

"I think it's very unique and I like it, I like the sales they had, I like the clothes," Williams said.

If you weren't out for the grand opening, you can still take advantage of many of those sales through Sunday.
