Lee County --   A passerby noticed James Oliver's vehicle burning. An investigator from the State Fire Marshal's office says someone placed a rag in the gas tank and lit it.

The bumper melted, but Oliver says he's happy his neighbor caught the fire in time to save the car.

"The guy who saw it, he went and woke up the people he lived with and they had a fire extinguisher, and they put it out, so I never saw the car on fire," he said.

Firefighters were also called to put out two other fires behind Lee Village Apartments nearby.    Investigators believe the same person set all three fires.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Lee County Fire Department or the State Fire Marshall's hotline at 1-800-282-5804.
