Roadblock produces drug arrest

March 10, 2008

Albany --  A routine road block in South Albany quickly turns into a chase, and one man is sent to jail on drug charges.

26-year-old Kerry Davis approached a road block at the end of Westown Road and Industry Avenue a little after 3:00PM.

Davis made a U-turn to avoid the traffic stop, and state troopers pursued him. The chase ended when he ran into a yard on Westown and Colquitt.

Davis got out of the car and started running. GSP officers caught up with him and brought out the drug dogs.

"Jumped out his vehicle and ran, and he was carrying a large sum of marijuana and a large amount of currency," said GSP Sgt. Shawn Urquhart.

Davis had about $5,000 worth of marijuana on him. He was transported to the Dougherty County jail.

APD's Heat, ADDU, and the DNR Rangers assisted GSP.
