Leesburg -- Before the trial of a Lee County woman charged with running down a man on U. S. 19 two years ago could start, she pled guilty.
Christina Purvis was scheduled to go on trial Monday. Instead, she pled guilty to first degree vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, and leaving the scene of the crime.
Purvis was driving the Ford SUV that struck and killed 39-year-old Stephen Collins November 18th, 2005.
She was sentenced to seven years in prison and five years probation and fined $950.
She'll have three weeks to get her affairs settled for her children before she begins serving her sentence.
