Albany- A Sumter County family claims negligence on the part of an Albany doctor caused their son to lose his leg. Now they're suing for an amount that could reach into the millions.
A jury is currently hearing the civil complaint against Dr. Duncan Marsh and Albany Orthopaedic Clinic at the Dougherty County Courthouse. Jurors learned in July of 2005 then 14 year old Reginald Harris fell and injured his right knee. Dr. Duncan Marsh admitted him to Sumter Regional Hospital where he performed surgery.
Harris' family claim hospital staff ignored repeated complaints that Harris couldn't feel or move his toes. Thirty six hours later he was transferred to Phoebe, where doctor's amputated his leg above the knee. Today the jury heard testimony from Dr. Marsh. The already week long trial continues next week.
