Nashville - A fire destroyed a Masonic lodge in Berrien County Friday.

The fire ignited in the attic of the building around 11:30 Friday morning and took nearly an hour and a half for firefighters from Nashville and New Lois to contain.

They say the attic and second floor is a total loss with severe smoke and water damage to the first floor.

They are still investigating the cause but believe the heating and air condition unit may be to blame.

The lodge was home to nearly 220 masons.

They hope to hold meetings at the Lakeland lodge until a new meeting place can be found.
